We are a group of students that have an interest in playing table tennis afterschool. We believe that this is a sport that is needed in our school. With the addition of this club, we believe that it can benefit our school as it is a sport that is open to all students in every grade. This sport can be enjoyed regardless of their skill level or physical abilities, since the critical component of such a sport is primarily the mind.

The main goal of this club is to share and experience the game of table tennis with others. We believe table tennis is a sport that is relatively underrated in Canada. We hope to spread the love for the game to others. It is a different sport that most people do not play and we hope with this club people will be able to learn and have fun playing.

Creating an Inclusive Catholic School Community
Chaplain Welcome

“For as in one body we have many members, and not all the members have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually we are members one of another. We have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us.”

(St. Paul’s Letter to the Romans 12:4-6)

This passage is about using the gifts, abilities and opportunities that God has given us. We are all interconnected to one another in Christ and we are called to use our unique gifts to work together for the betterment of each other and our community. Christ loves each one of us! Diversity in unity goes together. We have unity in diversity in being the living Body of Christ.

Preparatory Program-IB DP Withdrawal Policy

FROM THE PREPARATORY PROGRAM (GRADES 9 AND 10)
AND THE I.B. DIPLOMA PROGRAMME (GRADES 11 AND 12)

WITHDRAWAL PROCEDURE

  1. Withdrawal requests for the following year MUST be handed in and approved between the time of course selection (usually in November) and the end of February; otherwise, students have committed themselves to complete one more full year of the Preparatory Program (Grades 9 and 10) or the IB Diploma Programme (Grades 11 and 12).  Once approved, withdrawal will start from September of the next academic year.

  1. Parents and students must give the IB DP Coordinator prior notice in writing before withdrawal (properly completed PREPARATORY PROGRAM/IB DP WITHDRAWAL FORM).

  2. Withdrawing students must make an appointment to discuss their withdrawal with the IB DP Coordinator. This appointment is also to be attended by the student’s parent(s).

  3. If a student was admitted to the IB DP based on the flexible boundary permission i.e. St. Francis Xavier Secondary School is not his/her home high school, he/she may be required to return to his/her secondary home school. Permission to remain at St. Francis Xavier Secondary School in an alternate program is solely at the discretion of the home-school Principal and the Principal of St. Francis Xavier Secondary School. Flexible boundary letter is required from the home-school Principal (a letter to the home-school Principal requesting a flexible boundary can only be submitted after the meeting between the IB DP Coordinator, the student, and the student’s parent(s) – please see point no. 3; a copy of this letter must be attached to the withdrawal package presented to the IB DP Coordinator).

  4. If a student is allowed to stay at St. Francis Xavier Secondary School and he/she has been receiving bussing, than after the withdrawal bussing will not be provided.

Any level changes (Higher Level to Standard Level or Standard Level to Higher Level) must happen before the end of February of Grade 10 when planning courses for Grade 11. No level changes will be permitted after the last day of February of the student’s Grade 10 year due to scheduling requirements.

GRADES 11 AND 12: Since the International Baccalaureate Organization does not reimburse the DPCDSB for withdrawals after January 15, there will not be any fee reimbursement if, in extenuating situations and when switching schools, the withdrawal application is not filed and approved by the Principal at least a week before January 15.
