Preparatory Program-IB DP Withdrawal Policy
WITHDRAWAL POLICY
FROM THE PREPARATORY PROGRAM (GRADES 9 AND 10)
AND THE I.B. DIPLOMA PROGRAMME (GRADES 11 AND 12)
WITHDRAWAL PROCEDURE
1. Withdrawal requests for the following year MUST be handed in and approved between the time of course selection (usually in November) and the end of February; otherwise, students have committed themselves to complete one more full year of the Preparatory Program (Grades 9 and 10) or the IB Diploma Programme (Grades 11 and 12). Once approved, withdrawal will start from September of the next academic year.
2. Parents and students must give the IB DP Coordinator prior notice in writing before withdrawal (properly completed PREPARATORY PROGRAM/IB DP WITHDRAWAL FORM).
3. Withdrawing students must make an appointment to discuss their withdrawal with the IB DP Coordinator. This appointment is also be attended by the student’s parents.
4. If a student was admitted to the IB DP based on the flexible boundary permission i.e. St. Francis Xavier Secondary School is not his/her home high school, he/she may be required to return to his/her secondary home school. Permission to remain at St. Francis Xavier Secondary School in an alternate program is solely at the discretion of the home-school Principal and the Principal of St. Francis Xavier Secondary School. Flexible boundary letter is required from the home-school Principal.
5. If a student is allowed to stay at St. Francis Xavier Secondary School and he/she has been receiving bussing, than after the withdrawal bussing will not be provided.
Any level changes (Higher Level to Standard Level or Standard Level to Higher Level) must happen before the end of February of Grade 10 when planning courses for Grade 11. No level changes will be permitted after the last day of February of the student’s Grade 10 year due to scheduling requirements.
GRADES 11 AND 12: Since the International Baccalaureate Organization does not reimburse the DPCDSB for withdrawals after January 15, there will not be any fee reimbursement if, in extenuating situations and when switching schools only, the withdrawal application is not filed and approved by the Principal at least a week before January 15.

Cross-Country
A Real Tradition
Cross-Country running at Xavier has become very competitive over the years. It has become a highly organized athletic club with emphasis on a high participation rate, high performance and real athleticism. The Team has grown in size over the years carrying 40 members. These are divided up in midget boys / girls (grade 9), junior boys / girls (grade 10) and senior boys / girls (grades 11/12).
Tryouts take place immediately upon returning to school (within the first week). The coaches invite you to try out. It will be an unbelievable experience that will ensure you make new friends, have fun, get super fit and most importantly learn about yourself and build character. It is not for the faint of heart though. Student athletes trying out should already be comfortable with running and have a solid endurance. The coaches will take it from there and make you even better runners.
Thus far
we are very proud to have claimed two championships in midget boys (2010) and
junior boys (2013). A 2nd
place finish to the midget girls (2015). A 1st place individual midget girls’ finish (2015). A 3rd place finish in junior girls
(2015) and finally a 3rd place overall team finish in the Region of
Peel (2015).
Boys Volleyball
The varsity boys volleyball team had a great season despite not having a team last year. They finished with a 6-2 record, second in their division.. However, unfortunately, they fell to a top ranked Mississauga High School squad in the first round of the play-offs. The team worked hard and only dropped a total of 5 sets over the course of the season.
Congratulations on a great season. The following boys are members of this amazing team: Jakub Anozy,
Francesco Barbieri, Andrew Cianci, Luca D' Aversa, Nicholas Franceschi, Stanley Lo, Michael Mavely,
Daniel Mueller, Matthew Vaccaro, Vincent Vargas, Ryan Wong, and managers Sophia & Nicole Milanetti.

Our Faith
Creating an Inclusive Catholic School Community
“For as in one body we have many members, and not all the members have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually we are members one of another. We have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us.”
(St. Paul’s Letter to the Romans 12:4-6)
This passage is about using the gifts, abilities and opportunities that God has given us. We are all interconnected to one another in Christ and we are called to use our unique gifts to work together for the betterment of each other and our community. Christ loves each one of us! Diversity in unity goes together. We have unity in diversity in being the living Body of Christ.
